Microsoft Fingerprint Reader DOES work with FireFox!!!
Posted At : 9:18 PM | Posted By : tony
So, I must say... and most of you know what I mean when I say this... THERE IS NOTHING QUITE LIKE THE INTERNET!

At 11:19 PM this afternoon I posted a blog entry about my newest toys... two (2) Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer with Fingerprint Reader's that I was just ready as heck to use and lock up my PC's.

HEH. Little did I know, FireFox would not jive with it, the passwords manager had no idea what to do, and basically since I couldn't log onto my domain with it... it was a pretty stylish paperweight. Good? Not really.

Tony,

I hope this helps you out. I recently did a review of a Firefox extension that does exactly what you want. Check it out.

UNTIL ... I get this message in the comments for my blog post. A kind soul found my blog entry, has recently reviewed an extension for FireFox that does just this, and holy shite I'm about to be able to lockup my PC and use it with FireFox after all!

Anyway, thank you goes out to "jdanylko" for the find!

omg! thank you for posting this!! i got my fingerprint reader awhile back, but I was still using IE, so i didnt have problems. Once I discovered Firefox and realized it didnt work i was pissed off. it sucked!! but i liked firefox a hell of a lot better than IE so i said screw the fingerprint reader, go w the better browser. ive searched for this in the past but have had NO luck...until now! THANKS!! YAY!!

np, glad to help!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I use Firefox and need to manage lots of vender-related passwords/username stuff and have been really frustrated having to switch between IE and Firefox. Now I don't have to worry about it.

J

Besides Fingerfox, now there's a new fingerprint-based password manager for Firefox (and it does work with DigitalPersona Password Manager with IE!) called FingerAuth. The website is http://www.fingerauth.com
Hope this information is useful.
Regards,
John
