2009 Accenture Match Play Championship

This post is simply here so that I have an easy way to view the bracket for the match play event this weekend. This is a big one, this is Tiger Woods' first tournament, back from his season ending surgery last year at the US Open which he indeed won, albeit on a broken knee!

It's an amazing time for golf fans, and it should be a great tournament!

Here is a link to the 2009 Accenture Match Play Championship bracket

I'm also in a golf pool this year, and I have to pick a winner, still not sure, I'll figure that out soon.

well... we won :)

me and my partner ryan crandell took a VERY tough field down this year... this year we were in the 1st flight and we won 1st place in that flight.

in this years 1st flight were:

1. chris mason & scott hepner
2. shawn thomas and his brother steve
3. eric rawlinson and his boy brian deschepper
4. tony weeg (me) and ryan crandell
5. dicky smith and mark kondrath
6. fred low and don ludwig

we got 6pts from shawn and his brother, we split with mason and hep... we got six pts from dicky... and i really dont remember what we did against everyone else... but either way it was FUNNNN!!!!!!!!!

im not sure, but i think this was 5 or 6 out of 9 times playing in this tournament and hopefully it can continue next year...

golf handicap.

so, i wanted to start tracking this, and what better place...

my handicap index as of today is 10.2

if i get below 9, i can play from the black tees in the club championship and potentially make the city team! a goal that i set for myself at 25, to do by 35... hmmm... is it happening???

later

golf lately...

not sure what is going on lately, but i have to say my golf game is off the hook right now...

last saturday, i shot a 79 at green hill, and yesterday on my birthday i shot a 78!! yeah, amazing to me.... i must say, im just as surprised... anyway, its been about 6 years since i last shot this well, and im hoping to keep riding this train.

the round on saturday featured two drives that totalled 775 yards, 3 birdies, doubles on 1 and 10, and lots of pars... the round yesterday only saw one birdie, 5-6 great long drives (300+) and again 2 doubles!!!

so, if i can rid my round of those doubles and sink a few more putts i might just keep it in the 70's all year!!

what a great way to start my 35th year.

Tied for 2nd Place

So i tied for 2nd place in the Club Championship this year (in my flight). The tournament was last weekend, Saturday and Sunday. I shot an 84 (45-39) on day 1, and followed it up with a slack ass 88 the next day. Anyway, there was a three way tie for 2nd and after a match of cards for trophies, I was assed out :) S'all good, I still scored well, played REALLY well, figured out a lot about my mental game, and nailed this new shot down pretty well so that I can play it all the time now. It's kinda like a punch/cut that rises up like a normal shot and sits well when it hits the green. GOOD STUFF!!

Anyway, times are crazy, and I hadnt been playing too well as of late, and for me to pull this off... Leader in the clubhouse going into day 2, that rocks.

hasta.

I'll take Tiger Woods... you can have the field.

Coming off maybe the worst display of golfing talent by the best golfer ever at the US Open at Winged Foot this year, Tiger Woods has persevered and moved his way into first place overall after today's round of 65 at Royal Liverpool in the 2006 Open Championship, in Hoylake England. No doubt, the questions arose, early, was this one his comeback? Is this one for his Dad? Can he REALLY pull off another Major win akin to his 2000 win at the US Open at Pebble Beach. YES. YES HE CAN! Way to go Tiger, way to go man!

On another side note... My partner Todd and I won our annual Men's League Thursday night matches overall in 1st place!!! Yes, not only did we do that, but we won commandingly. Going into the night we had a lead of 2.25 points on the next closest team, and by the end of our 9 hole match last night... our lead grew to an insurmountable 5 points!!! Two AMAZING shots, one by Todd on 10 from the left hand hazard, and one by me on 18 from about 100 yards... TO ABOUT 6 inches!!! These two shots, and the first six holes gave us enough points to take the team we were playing, and solidify the overall win.

Good stuff. We have been playing in this match for about 6 years now, have made 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place, and last night we hit for the cycle!! 1st place overall.

Alive and Back from Myrtle Beach

ok. the trip was killer. i got to wear the sleeveless pink golf shirt, ill explain later... the courses were GREAT, i made four birdies in our 3rd round (my pink shirt round), two in a row, on 10 and 11, and overall played like crap around the greens. i got off the tee VERY well, just needed to work on the short game a bit.

anyway, back to code.

shot an 87 at renditions

renditions golf course, in davidsonville maryland, is just too cool course. basically it is an 18 hole treasure that features 18 of the best holes in major championship history. so, not only do you get to play a hole from carnoustie, but there is the infamous "Amen Corner" from Augusta National... host of the historic and magical masters tournament.

on each hole there is a plaque with a brief description and highlights from previous major championships and even highlights in history about the particular hole.

anyway, i had 11 fairways, a bunch of one putts, and shot an 87 from the TIPS!

:) nice.

2005 PRMC Foundation tournament

Played in a Great tournament today, the format was Preferred drive of the four-some and then 2 better balls net. Collectively we shot 38 under, 106 and tied for third. After a match of cards we lost out to the eventual third place team.

All in all a great day, I got to hit my new driver, the Nike Ignite 460 (9.5 deg) with the stiff Fujikura shaft. Great day, GREAT driver. Wow is it long.
