to all my non-geek friends (shameless blog promotion)

you can hide these blog postings if you'd like... i understand... they are not for you... and would bore me if i were you... facebook has a great feature whereby you can link your blog to your facebook page and draw interested web searchers that way.

conversely, to all of my geek friends, you might want to try adding your blog's rss feed to facebook's "notes" system and see if help's generate traffic!

i know that i have enjoyed a 280% increase on my Google Adsense payouts this month, and i'm looking to get that return to increase even more. why not. we have good knowledge, that new people in the industry want - more and more each day!

good luck, im sure you will be able to figure it out. but if you cannot... here is some information that i found here at SiteProNews "5 ways to Import and Promote your blog on Facebook"

Import Notes
Notes is an application that allows you to create notes, which are almost like blog posts, for your friends to see. Every time you post a new note it shows in the public timeline for all to see but, many do not know that you can import a blog into your Facebook notes. From the Notes application you will see an option in the right hand column under "Notes Settings" to import a blog. Setting it up is pretty easy, you'll just need to enter either your blog or RSS feed URL. After going over the preview of an imported blog post and confirming the import you'll be all set. Facebook will then check your blog every couple hours for new posts. As I mentioned above, this is also great to set up with your Facebook page.

Seeing spammy type things in Twitter?

if so, you can find more information here on how to report those Twitter users to authorities and eventually stop this crap.

basically you notify this twitter user "@endautodms" and make the message kinda like this:

@endautodms @spammyspammy is showing robot-like behavior

i found this information here on "The SocialToo Blog SocialToo - Your Companion to the Social Web"

facebook pulls away from the pack

as i've been predicting to all of my friends in the real world (yes, there is a life outside of the internet) facebook is starting to SMOKE myspace. i can just tell. the reach the demographics that its starting to pull are off the hook.

here is a techcrunch article on the subject, and quite timely. its amazing how like a wildfire a website can find it's tipping point, and this must just be that that we are watching happen.

Tipping Point

so ive been reading (iPhone reading :) malcom gladwell's "tipping point" and its kinda made me think of this major social network tipping point that i think we are seeing.

facebook is BLOWING up, myspace is DECLINING oddly, and twitter seems to be really ramping up. and not only because i use these services but people like my mother (no offense momma :) and her friends are using these things... thats a demographic that facebook NEVER planned on, im sure of that.

just my .02c on the pile of stuff tipping this social phenomenon

Measure Map - Get to know your blog

Google's latest acuisition, and what seems to be cool new tool have been released in a beta format :) yeah, i know, beta format. The post of the news that I found was on slashdot, and the site responded VERY fast to my page requests, meaning one thing... and one thing only, in my mind... they have a nice website server farm and infrastructure in place, strong enough to handle a slashdotting!

From what their website says, they can tell you a lot about the visitors of your blog, the influence your blog has on the world, and some other cool bits of data...

From the Measure Map website:

Measure Map helps you understand what people do at your blog, and what influence you are having on the world.

  • Easily navigate the numbers that matter
  • Track links to see who sends you traffic
  • Find out what people do at your site
  • Setup is a breeze — it only takes a minute

Anyway, its called "Measure Map" and here is a link to their site.
You have to signup to be in the beta, the simple task of entering your email address in a form gets that done!

I'm feeding a squirrel?

Today I was notified and promptly submitted to, a new blogging aggregator today. It's called Feed-Squirrel.com and looks like its going to focus on Adobe (formerly Macromedia) technologies. Cool name, cool very thin GUI website to go with it.

Anyway, check it out, its the squirrel.

BlogCFC 4.0

Thanks to Raymond Camden for yet another great blog cfc install. i had a few issues in my converting it from a quite early version, to this, but im done. now its time to come up with an interface again :)

who knows what i will come up with, but i'm going to poke around, check out some sites, check out some ideas, and see what i can find.

if you have any good ideas, or sites that have ideas... that are cool, let me know.

thanks.

Google Analytics - oooh neat, I think?

so.

i put this snippet of code into my blog code:

<script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript">
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
_uacct = "UA-146603-1";
urchinTracker();
</script>

and then Google's new Analytics tool, will tell me all kinds of good information on visitors to my blog. This should be interesting. Rumors are that this is all Urchin related, I think they are not rumors, as the method called in the Javascript is "urchinTracker()"

If you go do this on your blog, you can better analyze your traffic.

Here are some of the things they can tell you:

Snippet from the Help Information, Visitor Summary

Visitor Summary

The four graphics in this report provide a quick snapshot of visits to your site. Shown are:

    * the total number of visits and pageviews your site received, the average number of pageviews per visit (P/V), and the number of visits and pageviews over time
    * the number of first-time visits and returning visits
    * the cities from which the most visitors come to your site
    * your top referral sources.

Edit 1: There is also what's called "funneling" and "Conversions" so you can set a Start and an End and follow a sales process through the site. Very cool information!

Anyway, we have all always had stat's services running, watching our logs, telling us information, but I'm quite certain Google's spin will be neat!
