Microsoft Fingerprint Reader DOES work with FireFox!!!

So, I must say... and most of you know what I mean when I say this... THERE IS NOTHING QUITE LIKE THE INTERNET!

At 11:19 PM this afternoon I posted a blog entry about my newest toys... two (2) Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer with Fingerprint Reader's that I was just ready as heck to use and lock up my PC's.

HEH. Little did I know, FireFox would not jive with it, the passwords manager had no idea what to do, and basically since I couldn't log onto my domain with it... it was a pretty stylish paperweight. Good? Not really.

Tony,

I hope this helps you out. I recently did a review of a Firefox extension that does exactly what you want. Check it out.

UNTIL ... I get this message in the comments for my blog post.
A kind soul found my blog entry, has recently reviewed an extension for FireFox that does just this, and holy shite I'm about to be able to lockup my PC and use it with FireFox after all!

Anyway, thank you goes out to "jdanylko" for the find!

Microsoft Fingerprint Reader - DOES NOT WORK WITH FIREFOX!

So, I bought this jazzy little fingerprint reader made by Microsoft from woot.com the other day. Much to my surprise, shouldn't surprise me, but it did... It DOES NOT WORK with FireFox. Microsoft has apparently disabled the ability of this to work with FireFox, and with that, its basically a paperweight now.

Anyway, just a caveat to those of you who are interested in making your computer life a bit easier... if you are on a domain, the windows logon feature will not work, and if you are using FireFox, it will not work.

BUM DEAL!

Macromedia News Plugin for Firefox 1.5 Issue

It does not work. And MeasureIT does not work. If you have/use either of these, I would recommend you wait until there is an update for those, before you install. Or, if you do not care, install away my friend :)

Firefox... "Find as you type" drop down list (select box)

Im not sure how many of you might already know about this, but it was news to me, so i'll go ahead and write about it :)

Firefox really has hit the usability nail on the head. The concept is not new, windows programs have had it for years, but for the web, it required some javascript, and maybe a bit of trickery.

Firefox has implemented a "Find as you type" functionality that REALLY makes drop down lists with lots of elements EASY TO USE!!

Here is a link to the explanation of how and why to use it... Also, some notes on how to turn it on/turn it off ... man, i love this browser!

How to make a transparent Favicon.Ico file

I was toying around with FireFox tonight, and its glaringly better handling of favicon.ico files.

Well, tonight i made one for my sites. And when i saw it on the bookmarks bar, it had a hideous white squared top to it... and that made me think... there HAS to be a way to make that file transparent. [More]
