That's right folks... just announced at Adobe Max 2009 - With the advent of Flash CS5 flash developers around the world will be able to make games and other applications for the iPhone using flash! it's about time, and you can go here to read more about this amazing new feature! This is NOT flash in the safari browser inside the iPhone this is native iPhone application support. One great step towards a more Flash Filled Future on my iPhone! iPhone - Internet Tethering - Live!

so, how cool is this... im posting this blog entry using my iphone os 3.0 and internet tethering. that's right. although we thought it was not allowed... it is! http://help.benm.at/help.php go to that site above, and follow the instructions (really easy actually, just download the settings, follow the on-screen instructions and BAM!) so, anyway, hopefully this is useful for ya, and shame on AT&T for thinking we wouldn't figure this out at some point in time! apparently there is some MMS hack that is part of what is coming, but as of yet, i cannot even figure out how to even see the word "mms" in my iphone anywhere yet!?!?

so, here i sit, patiently waiting for the new version of the iPhone OS and I'm now contemplating should i do it immediately or should i wait until day 2 to do it, after the uber geeks have tested, tried and bricked their phones, so that i don't have to do it myself? hmmm... i think ill do it today, if it EVER SHOWS UP!!! come on apple. hurry up.

An Absolute Beginners Guide to iPhone development

i found this link today while combing through some tweets in my favorite little twitter application twhirl. the guys @ Switch on the Code have put together a VERY simple and easy to understand guide to making your first little "hello world" application for the iPhone. all you need is the following:

a mac computer and the iPhone SDK
Xcode
Interface Builder
iPhone Simulator that you can use for free.

if you want to actually put your new App on an actual iPhone or into the AppStore, you have to pay the $99 fee. i really want to build an iPhone application, and i plan to, trust me! But until then, im just going to collect more links, store them here, and hopefully build a nice little pool of guides that will help me! now, if someone would just buy a new MacBook Pro 15" with 4gb of ram, i'd be able to get started!

New GMail interface for iPhone and Android powered phones!

So today, the almighty Google, has released a new version of Gmail for the iPhone, and I must say, my first impression is WOW. it incorporates Gmail, Calendar, Docs and most every other app that they offer through the desktop browser experience. I still want an AppStore app that is specific for the iPhone, but for now, this is going to have to work. Some things that i have found so far: 1. I can't seem to add attachments to messages
2. It's in a browser, which isn't a deal killer, but an app would rock
3. Discard is present, to remove a message without asking me if I'm sure :)
4. Stars work, but not multiple stars like what I have setup in my regular Gmail.
5. Threads and conversation view are here, and work just as expected
6. Archive, Delete and More functions are present
7. Expand/Collapse all are present
8. Colored labels are present!
9. When creating a new message and adding email addresses to the To: field, auto-suggest works! Inside a label

Skype for the iPhone finally, and its installed on mine!!

that's right as of midnight this evening, Skype for the iPhone is now available. i downloaded it from the appstore, and just like that i have Skype service through my home wi-fi, in an area where AT&T does not offer VERY good coverage. the coverage is ok, im on the outskirts of good coverage, but it is definitely not perfect. and no 3g. so, its skype, it has all the things you'd want to skype with, chat, phone etc. really cool, and it's a native app that doesnt require some sort of recoder that i read about the other day, that i think was the major contributor to the lag i notice with fring, unlike fring and nimbuzz. anyway here are some screenshots of the new skype for iPhone app. it's too late for me to call anyone i know :) so i need to try it out tomorrow for the full effect! take it easy

strep throat

down for the count the past couple of days with strep + fever and you know the rest... back in action soon. in the meantime, utilizing coldfusion, and my iphone, and some secret sauce type stuff, im building a way to remotely start my car as well as remotely unlock my car. no keys needed. yeah. no keys. just my iphone, my mobilemanager and a backend app in coldfusion. w00t.

Paper vs. iPhone (Gmail takes on the task of beating Paper!)

wow, the gmail team is really doing a lot of great work lately. i was just reading the gmail team's blog and found a killer little application for your iPhone and that is tasks that are on your iPhone as well as your gmail page. they took the stance that they wanted to create a perfect replacement for little scraps of paper or post-it notes. what would be most handy other than that for little tasks, or notes, or whatever and this is what they came up with. the video is good, it explains what and how, and the explanation of how they came about this is even better, go read it. here is what the icon looks like as well as my task list as of today the new tasks icon is the blue check. simply visit: http://gmail.com/tasks in your iPhone's Safari Browser and then save it as a bookmark on your homepage and after you sign it, voila! your tasks are there. full featured too, from what i can see.

i know, this is not news. this is a fact. a weird fact, but a fact nonetheless. what bothers me most is that it seems like the easiest feature to implement. either way, there are a LOT of people who agree. and luckily there is a site that has been created to display this disgust, and vote for features to be the most desired! who knows if apple will ever look at this site, but either way, its a way to try! so visit Please Fix The iPhone, and vote for your favorite features or submit a new one. http://pleasefixtheiphone.com/
